Elf Power Test Pressings!!!

Finally...the Elf Power test pressings just came in. It's our first 10"! For those who care there are a total of 10 test pressings. We took a picture so it would last longer...

PS: Has anyone heard the new My Morning Jacket? Hate to be this guy but it sorta sucks. And speaking of sucking, we were talking about random crap this morning and long story short Clapton sucks too...he is not God. Check this out:

Oneida 7"

We put together and hand numbered the Oneida records this past weekend, always a nerdy good time. The records came out great; we're psyched! Head over to our releases section and pick one up. We want to thank Amy Bracco for her penmanship skills. Her two's are legendary. Check out some pics:

Feist // Constantines

Got into work this morning to find a package from Insound. My Feist and Constantines split 7" just showed up. They cover "Islands In The Stream" written by the Bee Gees and made famous by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. The B-side is a song called "Trans Canada". I have yet to listen to it because I just got it but so far...it's pretty sweet. Put out by Arts & Crafts on marble brown vinyl. Check it out.

School Of Seven Bells 7"

I picked up the new School Of Seven Bells 7" at Other Music last week. Pressed on translucent green vinyl and brought to you by Seattle label Suicide Squeeze as part of their 2008 limited-edition 7" series. It features a brand new song called "Silent Grips" and a cover of Wire's "Used To" which the band has made their own. Both tracks continue down the ethereal pysch-rock path the band established on last years Face To Face In High Places EP (a noteworthy record itself...but that's another post) I was bummed when I originally found out that Benjamin Curtis had left Secret Machines but not anymore. Both tracks are currently streaming on their MySpace page so do yourself a favor and take a listen.

Elliot Smith Re-Issues // Part 1

Over the past few years out of print Elliott Smith vinyl has sold for well over $100 on ebay, sometimes over $200 so of course it was time for re-issues. In comes Plain Recordings. They’ve done a bunch of re-issues lately. Anyway, the first two Elliott Smith re-issues are XO and Figure 8. I was very excited about these, especially if you ordered them through Aural Exploits because they had the exclusive numbered color vinyl editions. I was able to snag the regular black versions of XO and Figure 8 and a limited version of XO. I was too late for the limited Figure 8 (don’t worry, I paid triple the original price and got one on ebay). So I started with XO. Why? Because it’s one record as opposed to Figure 8’s two records and I was going to be cooking dinner shortly and didn’t want to constantly change sides. So I start with the black vinyl version because while color is cooler we all know it doesn’t sound as good. So I dropped the needle on it and I have to admit I was a little disappointed. There was a lot of surface noise. I didn’t let it get me too down though because this record is awesome. I’ll keep you updated on Figure 8...
